If you ask me why I named my organization Never 99, I’ll you tell the idea stemmed from work. I am a dispatcher for the Chicago Police and I can never send a single officer, also known as a 99 unit, into a bad situation by him or herself, they always need an assist. In addition there are always two of us assigned to a zone so we are never alone. And that’s exactly what Never 99 means, that you’re never alone, that there is always someone by your side, that there is always someone to assist you. So no matter your situation, good or bad, if you ever find yourself in need of an assist for any reason, reach out to someone, anyone, because there’s always someone, somewhere, that has your back.
Our mission and goal is to provide basic hygiene products to the homeless to assist them with staying clean so that they can focus on getting the additional help they need to combat their homelessness. We provide each individual with a reusable tote bag consisting of the following items: shower cap, shampoo and conditioner, combs and brushes, toothbrush & toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, face soap, body soap, lotion, deodorant, shaving cream & razors, sanitary items, q-tips & cotton balls, first aid kits, and other essentials that many of us take for granted each day such as socks, hats, & gloves.
